WOODCARVING WORKSHOP

June 6-taught by Master Woodcarver DAVE DISSELBRETT. Dave’s project for this month is a surprise, so be prepared for anything fun. Spend the day carving away in the comfortable classroom. Need a break? Walk next door and see the brand new gallery show “Artist’s Gone Wild” presented by the KAA membership. Never carved before? Dave has projects for beginners. June 7, 14, 21-taught by Master Woodcarver DAVE DISSELBRETT This ongoing carving class is well attended by crafty woodcarvers. Men and women enjoy the tools, wood, and artistry involved in creating keepsakes. No experience necessary to be a part of this social group. Join Dave and his never ending ideas. ENCAUSTIC WORKSHOP: “PAINTING WITH HOT WAX”

June 12-taught by DEANNA WHITE. In this new and exciting class you will learn how to make your own bee’s wax paints, learn fusing techniques with wax, and the use of different heating tools in a safe manner. Deanna will cover texture, inlay, and collage techniques. You will work on your own projects at your own pace. At the end of class you will have one or two finished paintings. All supplies are furnished but you may want to bring some of your own personal photos (must be a copy center photo copies, not inkjet), special papers, and any other flat items, such as leaves, for collage. Deanna will also bring papers and collage items. Bring a lunch or snack. Saturday, 11:30-4:00, $65.*

PLEIN AIR PAINTING and SKETCHING

June 17-hosted by JEANIE BAKER. This month’s outing is at Heirloom Roses at St. Paul, Oregon. The Heirloom Rose Gardens have three English Style gardens featuring a large variety of roses. The peak blooming time is in mid-June. Often called America’s Most Romantic Rose Gardens, the five acres with 3,000 roses will delight your senses. WHAT DO I DO WITH WATERCOLOR PENCILS?”

June 19-taught by PAT AVERILL. Most of us gather art supplies like candy and then don’t really know how to begin using them. This is your chance to learn easy ways to use water-soluble colored pencils in combination with dry colored pencils. You’ll make a reference sheet of the techniques first, and then start working on a painting. Your imagination is your only limitation when using watercolor pencils. Supply list. Saturday.10:00-4:00. Bring a lunch or visit a nearby eatery. $60.*

PLEIN AIR PAINTING

June 26-27-taught by SAM COLLETT. Landscape Painting Class Description: “Come and join in the excitement and challenge of plein air landscape painting and experience this new intimate and visceral interaction with your physical world. Learn to extract a 2D composition from the complex and seemingly chaotic visual subject matter before you and then translate those observations to your picture plane (the painting surface). There is nothing quite like the challenge of documenting the constantly whirling visual environment and experiencing this total sensory immersion in your surrounding.” Sam comes from beautiful Wallowa Lake in NE Oregon in the Swiss Alps of the west.
