Equestrian and sporting artist, Ruth Buchanan’s paintings have been exhibited at International Horse Events as well as in galleries in London, the rest of the UK and in Europe. Ruth’s fascination with the form and dynamics of horses, humans and other animals and how the fall of light translates the everyday and commonplace into the extraordinary are realized in paintings of atmosphere and movement executed in watercolor and oils. While her paintings are expressive in nature, Ruth paints in the traditional of realism; sometimes with landscape or architectural background and sometimes using the juxtaposition of her subject with an abstract color background to contribute to, or create tension within the narrative. Enhanced by her skilled draughtsmanship and thorough knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics, the result is an exciting and contemporary take on the tradition of sporting art.

Who: Watercolor artists interested in enhancing their equine painting skills.

Note: While I do not wish to discourage anyone with a great passion for the subject matter, this workshop will assume basic, beginner watercolor skills. Additionally, participants should have some basic knowledge of equestrian anatomy. If you are still interested in attending, but are concerned about not meeting these criteria, give Tara (the organizer) a call and we can talk about solutions. Class Size: Limit of 12. Class meets 9:00-4:00 with a one hour lunch.

Cost: $150 before April 15, 2017; $200 after April 16 until close.
