I've been a 'creative' since my earliest memories, often making things to keep myself busy and entertained. So, it was natural for me to choose a creative profession.
I started my career in the United States Air Force Reserve and trained as a Graphic Designer. It was at that same time I attended college and started my business painting window storefronts. Over the years, this evolved into painting signs, theater backdrops, murals, hand painted furniture and fine art panels.
Several years ago, I was invited to give a painting class for a fundraiser. It was a success in more ways than one. We raised funds and I realized that the painting process I had developed over the years for myself worked great for beginners! I also discovered that I thoroughly enjoy being that first step in others' artistic journeys, helping my students grow and develop their own process and style is a very rewarding experience.
I paint landscapes, still life, florals, seascapes and animals, using photographs as references, and also enjoy painting on location when the weather cooperates. Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest gives me endless inspiration for my art.
I also enjoy hiking, photography, crafting, reading, calligraphy and an occasional binge on a Netflix series. I consider myself a life-long learner, constantly honing my skills and experimenting with techniques and materials to liven my work and keep it fresh all the while inspiring my students to do the same.
