It is Keizer Art Association's privilege and distinct pleasure to recognize Debbiw Bowen as our Artist of the month. Debbie is an accomplished and recognized artist who enjoys creating art using colored pencils.

Artist's Statement:

Throughout Debbie’s life she has always dabbled with artistic endeavors ranging from crafts with kids, sewing projects that she sold then later upon retirement, she was introduced to watercolors and scratchboard art. Now in the present, Debbie’s true love at this point in her artistic career is creating realistic paintings using colored pencils and pastels, sometimes as a mixed media or separate on their own.

She loves to create portraits of her grandchildren, pet portraits, landscapes, wild animals, florals and lastly, surrealism/fantasy art. She strives for realism and has never listened to the notion of, “if you want realism, just take a picture.” She believes it takes a true artist to strive for perfection in their work towards realism to make a finished piece come alive!

Debbie has won awards for her artwork and has had her artwork published in books and magazines. She has taught colored pencil and pastels mixed media classes at KAA. Her toughest challenges in the past were creating 3 colored pencil and pastel mixed media tutorials for Ann Kullberg publications and sold on Amazon and for Carrie L. Lewis publications, CP Magic Magazine.

For Debbie her art is an endless learning experience; all the new techniques for creating art and ongoing ideas never stop.
