Keizer Art Association
Artist of the Month
Keizer Art Association is proud to present our May 2026 Artist of the Month
Laura Singer
It is Keizer Art Association's privilege and distinct pleasure to recognize Laura Singer as our Artist of the month.
Laura is an accomplished and recognized artist who enjoys sharing her skills by teaching art classes whenever she can.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Media Arts from Southern New Hampshire University. While she has her favorites, she is never content with just one medium or subject, so on any given day you may find her experimenting with watercolor, scratchboard, acrylic, oil, photography, graphite, pen and ink, colored pencil, linocut, dye, collage, or a combination of them all. She is addicted to paper and owning every color in the visible spectrum.
I remember clearly the day I was fitted for my first pair of eyeglasses at seven years old. I noticed that day that trees have individual leaves on them. I noticed that each leaf was a slightly different color. And I noticed that each veined pattern was unique.
Suddenly, the world held a new wonder.
My work is and always has been heavily inspired by the orderly, natural beauty around me. The tiniest feather of a bird's wing, the club of a butterfly's antenna, or the curve of a flower's petal inspire me more than a grand landscape. From restrained monochromatic compositions that border on the meticulous, to washes of swirling color executed with seeming abandon, every piece I create is born from a deep love of the detailed colors, textures, and shapes that make up our world.
My hope is that every person who experiences my art appreciates a new detail that they never noticed before, that they look more closely, that they look longer. And in the end, I hope that they experience a little bit of that wide-eyed wonder.
You can see Laura's art in the KAA Gallery throughout the month of May
